Erik Ainge drafted by New York Jets in the fifth round

Erik Ainge's career is now heading to New York. The Jets selected the Tennessee quarterback in the fifth round, with the 162nd overall pick.

Standing 6'6", Ainge defintely has the height that NFL teams want in their quarterbacks. Last year for the Vols, Ainge completed 62.6 percent of his passes. He had 31 touchdowns, compared to just 10 interceptions, all the while, throwing for 3,522 yards.

Former Webb standout Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens both started at quarterback last year for the Jets.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected former Tennessee tight end Brad Cottam with their second pick in the third round -- No. 76 overall.

Cottam missed most of his senior season with an injury, but returned for five games, catching five passes for 125 yards and a touchdown, a 31-yarder in the Outback Bowl win over Wisconsin.

He finished his career with 21 catches for 341 yards and a score.

Cottam joins former UT teammate and punter Dustin Colquitt, who was drafted by the Chiefs in the third of the 2005 draft.

Cottam is the second Vol to be drafted in 2008; linebacker Jerod Mayo went to the Patriots with the tenth pick of the first round.

Watch Sports Overtime Sunday at 6:30 and 11:00 for more on how the draft went for the University of Tennessee.
