Eskimos sign defensive back duo
The Edmonton Eskimos have signed import defensive backs E.J. Underwood and Michael Williams, the club announced Tuesday.
Underwood has spent time on the practice squads of the New York Giants, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills over three years (’06-’08) and during that time appeared in five pre-season games. Underwood spent three years at Ohio State before transferring to Pikeville College for his senior year in 2005, excelling as both a defensive back and kick returner.
Williams entered the pro ranks in 2007 with the AFL’s Austin Wranglers. In his rookie season, he posted 26 tackles, 1.5 sacks, four pass knockdowns, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick. He joined the Dallas Desperados in 2008 and dressed for 12 regular season games.
