Favre easily the highlight of Week 4
Did anyone really think Brett Favre would let an ankle injury keep him down? The future Hall of Famer threw a career-best six touchdowns in a 56-35 win over Arizona on Sunday, improving the Jets to 2-2 and dropping the Cardinals to 2-2. The performance also continued his streak of consecutive games started, putting him at an unprecedented 257.
Commentary: While Favre didn't mimic adversary Kurt Warner and throw for 470-plus yards, No. 4 also didn't copy No. 13 and turn the ball over six times. Favre did have an interception, but his 289 passing yards and half-dozen TDs obviously offset it.
Favre looked fantastic versus the Cardinals, who were expected to do at least moderately well against the hobbled quarterback, and continues to gain a rapport with his offensive teammates. Every skill player on the Jets' offense played well except for Thomas Jones, who only gained 46 yards on 18 carries.
As Favre continues to gain confidence in his teammates and a better understanding of the playbook, fans could keep seeing similar games out of him. Don't expect Favre to throw six TDs again during an individual game, but it wouldn't be a shock to see him make the Pro Bowl at the end of the season.
