Jets QB Mark Sanchez was booed during the pregame introductions Sunday, and some of his teammates have taken offense to that.
S Jim Leonhard told WFAN Radio in New York that he was "disappointed," and CB Darrelle Revis called it "unfair."
Sanchez went on to throw four touchdown passes in the Jets' 28-24 win over the Bills, but also had one very costly interception and completed less than 50 percent of his passes, going 17-for-35.
When asked Wednesday about the booing, Sanchez said, "we're focused. There's nothing to do about that, except play better. That's kind of where I stand with that."
And Sanchez admitted he must play better in the remainder of the regular season for the Jets to make the playoffs. He said Sunday's game "was the worst I've ever been" in terms of his passing on first and second downs.
Sanchez said he needs to throw more checkdown for short gains on first and second downs instead of throwing longer, lower-percentage passes and thus putting him and the Jets' offense into third-and-long situations.
Notes: RB LaDainian Tomlinson (knee) and returner Jeremy Kerley (knee) both practiced for the first time since being injured in the loss to New England on Nov. 13. Coach Rex Ryan expects both to be "fresh and ready to roll" Sunday when the Jets visit Washington. Their expected return would help the Jets especially on third downs. Both have become go-to targets for Sanchez in such situations, Tomlinson for checkdowns that he can turn into larger gains and Kerley on underneath routes that also can lead to first downs.
